Sometimes You Just Need One

 

It’s not hard to tell how I feel about weights. I think they’re great and I am a big fan. I’ve been a lifter for many years and will continue for many more to come. But, every now and then I take a complete break and leave the weights alone (for the most part).

I’ve taken some time off the weights (at least heavy weight) for about a month while i focused on other training methods. This is good for your mind and your body. Switch things up some times.

While training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), I’ve largely put the weight to rest. I still did push-ups, pull-ups, rope climbs, and resistance band exercises. I’ve lost some weight while doing this and toned my body. While, that’s not the look I usually strive for, it’s a nice change for a while.

Sparring has also caused me to work out certain muscles and stretch in various positions that I normally don’t thin about doing in the gym. I’m constantly pushing and pulling and twisting and turning. A great cardiovascular work-out.

Recently I went back into the gym and I have these great new surge of energy. Surge I have lost some of my strength, but I have a new focus. My mind is clear and my body is ready for some action. My muscles are also responding really well to my work-outs. Sometimes you have to miss something before you can like it again.

After every 3 or 4 months in the gym take of 2-4 weeks and do something completely different. Take a break and let your mind and body rest. But, don’t just sit on your ass and let your hard work go to waste. Do something. Hike regularly, start swimming, take a dance class, go rock climbing. There are many things you can do in the meantime to maintain your sexy.
